B1G1 - The start of something BIG!

From time to time I will blog something that isn't technical, this is one such time.

Recently one of our partners (Mad Office Supplies) introduced me to the concept of corporate giving. Initially I was sceptical, as I thought that this was the place of large companies that could donate thousands and thousands of dollars at a time, then I looked into this scheme a little further and discovered that we are ideally placed to make a difference.

The program known as B1G1 is a Singapore based organisation that makes it very simple for us to fulfil a number of goals that I have for the business. One of these is the ability to give back to the community as our business growth allows, and to work with other like minded businesses in developing and expanding business opportunities. Our giving can be to local projects or international projects. This can be done very simply by going to their website and filling out a simple form or provide details (receipt etc) of an organisation that we are donating to outside the B1G1 giving list. Our giving can be driven by our customers (when they purchase products) and/or through our own internal giving timetable.

The concept of having customers and suppliers that are like minded with regards to supporting worthy causes is something that I have a passion for and I believe membership based organisations such as B1G1 along with social media is going to allow us to do transform the way that we do business at Eintel. 

I invite everybody that is reading this to go and visit the website of B1G1 and take a look at the great things that are happening there. It is easy to get focused on what is happening in our immediate surrounds but taking the time to see how much difference such a small amount of money can make leaves me thinking, why do children go without clean water, schooling, food etc?
